1st National Conference–Work Related Road Safety “WRRS 2016”

Date: Monday, 11thJuly 2016, Entry: K600.00, Venue: New Government Complex, Lusaka, ZAMBIA
The Zambia Road Safety Trust in partnership with the Ministry of Transport and Communications welcomes you to the first Conference on Work Related Road Safety (WRRS).
The conference aims to promote Work Related Road Safety policies and a corporate safety culture to help employers secure high road safety standards. It will feature a strong programme of keynote speakers, oral and poster presentations.
Government is increasing asking companies to ensure that workplace safety is adequately addressed and managed. Employers and management are required to implement an appropriate road safety policy and encourage a safety conscious culture. Organisations will be held responsible for and be held liable for any and all related (negative) outcomes from its transport activities.
Work related Road Safety applies to individuals who are driving their own car to commute to work or driving a company vehicle for work purposes (fleet or passenger). In recent years, Zambia has continued to experience an increase in number of road related traffic accidents. Taking responsibility to improve Work Related Road Safety will improve road safety as a whole in Zambia; about 2100 lives were lost on Zambian roads in 2015, of those a number were related to people driving for work or commuting.
The conference will include contributions from leading occupational health and safety experts, a key note speech from the Ministry of Transport and Communications Permanent Secretary and will feature presentations and business cases for managing corporate road safety in commercial transport.
The conference will also visit a new ISO international standard ISO 39001 for road traffic safety management, recently adopted by the Zambia Bureau of Standards, which provides a useful framework for the continual improvement of road safety at work.
The format therefore gives plenty of opportunity for engagement, networking, communication and learning.
If the answer is “yes” to any of the below questions, this conference is a relevant.
 – Does your organisation operate vehicles for work?
– Do your employees drive for work purposes?
– Do employees or others drive on your premises?
 – Do you provide employees with personal vehicles?
– Do you contract transport services?
The conference brings together private transport operators, fleet safety managers, health and safety officers, government officers and representatives, and road safety experts to discuss the latest developments and priorities in work related road safety.
Find attached a conference programme and booking form (limited place). They will be an exhibition and sponsorship opportunities are available.
